Strawberry Shortcake is a doll. The doll has red hair and smells like strawberries. She first appeared on cards by American Greetings, and there soon were a series of dolls (each that smell like a different fruit and had a pet) and several TV specials produced by DIC and Nelvana. Strawberry Shortcake was always accompanied by Custard, her pink polka-dotted kitten. just to name a few! Each doll was scented and came with a darling little pet of their own. Of course, there were ... dozens of accessories for Strawberry Shortcake, including everything from clothes to bikes to a doll house with it's own collection of berry sweet furniture. She even was the star of her own videos!

Peppermint Fizz simply cannot imagine why Strawberry Shortcake and the other kids love their pets so much. After all, Pupcake, Vanilla Icing, Marmalade, and all the other pets are so klutzy, so normal, so average!
