Strawberry Shortcake [W]as a series of characters created by American Greetings. Their popularity catapulted them into a marketing frenzy that included dolls, toys, games, and accessories. Each character was themed around a popular berry flavor and given a clever gimmick --- They were scented. They ... had a corresponding pet. To maintain this high visibility Strawberry Shortcake and her friends were given a float in the Macy’s Parade. The assignment to translate these original character dolls into masks went to Joe Stephen.

Bake the biggest dessert that Strawberryland has ever seen in Strawberry Shortcake: The Four Seasons Cake. Strawberry Shortcake and her girlfriends have teamed up to enter the annual baking contest. In order to win the Strawberry Cup, they must make the most delicious cake of all time — the Four Seasons Cake. Travel with these culinary contestants through the four seasons and help them gather the ingredients for the gigantic cake. Watch out for tricky obstacles and enemies as you and your friends complete this adventure filled with fantasy and fun.

Strawberry Shortcake had her heyday during the 1980s, and that meant she had a very good chance of being too sweet and syrupy to be tolerated by many adults. But she ... like Rainbow Brite, Care Bears and a few others, belonged to a genre more sweet and syrupy yet — toons so sweet and syrupy they could have originated only in greeting cards. Strawberry and her friends first appeared in that medium, and in a line of stationery aimed at little girls.

Strawberry Shortcake, her friends and the pets Pupcake, Custard and Marmalade are getting ready to enjoy a fun afternoon of races, contests and, of course, dessert as they participate in the Nearly-Once-a-Yearly Strawberryland games! It would be a berry sweet event if not for the bragging Peppermint Fizz and her pet, Cola Chameleon. Peppermint wants to show off her pet Cola so much she's been cheating during the races and rigging the contests.

Sour Grapes was introduced in the third Strawberry Shortcake adventure, Strawberry Shortcake: Pets on Parade. She introduced herself as the Purple Pieman's old partner in crime, but this was retconned in the 2006 Sweet Dreams movie, where she was reintroduced as the Purple Pieman's sister. She sings when excited, much to the Pieman's chagrin, as her singing is loud and off-key. She is very fond of her pet snake, Dregs, whom she frequently wears as a stole. In the end of Dancin' In Disguise, she had a change of heart and wants to be friends with Strawberry Shortcake and her companions. However, it is unknown if this is permanent or is merely temporary.
