1. The Sting
   The Sting is an Academy Award-winning caper film from 1973 set in September of 1936 and revolving around a complicated plot by two professional grifters (Paul Newman and Robert Redford) to con a mob boss (Robert Shaw). The story, created by screenwriter David S. Ward, was inspired by some real-life con games perpetrated by the brothers Fred and Charley Gondorf and documented by David W. Maurer in his book The Big Con: The Story of the Confidence Man. The movie was directed by George Roy Hill, who ... directed Newman and Redford in the classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The title phrase refers to the moment when a con artist finishes the "play" and takes the mark's money. (Today the name is mostly used in the context of law enforcement sting operations.) If the con game is successful, the mark does not realize he has been "taken" (cheated), at least not until the con men are long gone.
2. The Sting -- Games
   The Sting will open their fourth season at home against the NLL Champion Colorado Mammoth on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 7:30PM. In total, six of the Sting’s eight home games will be played on a Friday night, one on a Saturday night, and one on a Sunday afternoon.
3. Scorpion -- Stings
   [T]he Arizona bark scorpion (Centruroides exilicauda or sculpturatus), which is found in Arizona and New Mexico and on the California side of the Colorado River, has a much more toxic sting. The sting is painful, sometimes causing numbness or tingling in the area around the sting. Serious symptoms are more common in children and include abnormal head, eye, and neck movements; increased saliva production; sweating; and restlessness. Some people develop severe involuntary twitching and jerking of muscles. Breathing difficulties may occur. The stings of most North American scorpions require no special treatment.
4. Sting (Wrestler)
   The Sting interview will be the first shoot-style interview he's ever done. "Sting: Behind the Paint" is a very compelling piece of video that was a complete monitor sellout in the production truck. The interview will air this Wednesday night. Mike Tenay did an absolutely fantastic job talking with Sting. Look for the Stinger to discuss things he's never talked about in public before. It may sound like a cliché, but this truly is Sting like you've never seen him before.
5. Sting (St)
   Anyway, it's well known that Sting is in the middle of a world tour with the reunited Police, playing to everyone from long-time Police fanboys to drunken idiots wearing toilet paper around their heads. Even though The Police aren't very good live, it doesn't matter - by the end of the world tour Sting will have made enough money to pay for that chef he sacked and probably some new houses too. Unless, of course, Sting blows all of his cash sticking it to a number of European hookers like it's going fashion.
6. The Scorpions -- Sting
   Description: The scorpion body consists of a cephalothorax broadly joined to an elongate abdomen which narrows toward its rear end to form a telson (tail) with a terminal bulbous segment called the vesicle. The vesicle is equipped with a stout sting. The first conspicuous pair of appendages (pedipalps) are large and terminate in pincers that are used to hold prey. Scorpions have four pairs of walking legs.
7. The Sting -- Miscellaneous
   Note: In December 2002 Popular Dancehall DJ Ninja Man (known officially as Desmond Ballentyne) incorporated a realistic theatric piece in his act on the stage of the Annual Sting Concert in Kingston, Jamaica. He, the original badman DJ, confronted the most notorious badman police in Jamaica (at that moment), Senior Superintendent of Police Renato Adams. The confrontation, in the view of many, was of epic proportions.
8. The Sting -- People
   The Sting has hung on tenaciously despite widespread critical neglect. Though it was rapturously received in 1973 (copping [S]even Oscars in the process), subsequent generations of critics haven't really had the inclination to go over it like a murder scene for clues to its brilliance. It's the Neil Simon version of vintage crime: well-written in a pejorative sense, it thinks every thought through for you instead of allowing you to participate in the experience. There's a place for this kind of movie, but a slight disappointment is almost unavoidable--all these talented people could surely have done something more with the milieu than refurbish Scott Joplin with Marvin Hamlisch arrangements.
9. The Sting -- Numbers
   Populations of sting nematodes may be distributed unevenly in the soil profile, due partly to downward movement of the pest as plant roots penetrate deeper in the soil. In Kansas, numbers of sting nematodes at standard sampling depths (the top 6 to 8 inches of soil) typically peak 30 to 45 days after planting. During the remainder of the growing season, nematode populations decline steadily and may not be easily detected by harvest. Therefore, the optimum time to sample for this nematode is when damage is first noticed on seedling crops.
