Stewart Cink: Putts
built 630 days ago
The 30-year-old Woods needed four extra holes Sunday, but finally put away Stewart Cink with an eight-foot birdie putt for his sixth title of the year. The duo wound up with 10-under-par scores of 270, Woods closing with a 2-under 68.

Cink started on the back nine Thursday and made the turn in 33 after sinking birdie putts of 2, 5 and 20 feet. He fought with his driver early on the front side, but moving the ball back in his stance seemed to do the trick.

On that Father's Day afternoon in 2001, when Cink's own children were just four and seven, he told reporters that he hadn't really been thinking about that two-footer. After missing that first putt, he hadn't paid the little one much mind.
STEWART CINK: No, look at the guys who look at the average the greens in regulation putting average. So when you hit the green, then take the average. Then that's the more telling stat. This total putts is just you can't go by it at all.

That year, Cink was 85th on the Tour in putts per green. The next season he was 112th. The "phase," as he calls it, was a long one—and it finally drove him to get help.
"Golf has a way of applying a little bit of shame if you miss a short putt or flub a chip or hit one (out of bounds)," Cink said Wednesday. "Shame is a part of golf."
