Cink traded a birdie for a bogey at 10 and 11, but sank an eight-footer for birdie at 15. He played one of the best shots to 18 all week as he made another eight-footer for birdie. Cink was in the clubhouse at 10-under par and Purdy was on the 10th hole.

Cink appeared to be in trouble on the winning hole - the par-four 16th - after pulling his drive into a waste area. But Purdy put his approach over the green, ruining any birdie chance.

At the 17th, Cink had 10 feet for birdie and Purdy had almost double that length. Neither made their putts but Cink would have a tremendous opportunity on the fourth sudden-death hole.

Playing one hour 45 minutes ahead of Purdy's final pairing, Cink reached the clubhouse two strokes behind the leader. Purdy bogeyed the 10th and 15th holes on the back nine to fall level with Cink, and had a three-metre birdie putt to win on the final regulation hole - but pulled it.
