Brodie, 54, describes his occupation as an investor who manages his own portfolio of stocks, bonds and loans. He has served as chair of the Atlanta Human Relations Commission since November 2004, but resigned his post to run. City regulations prohibit candidates for elected office from serving on a city-related panel.

After several training attachments in metallurgy/materials technology laboratories, Steve secured a job in the Field Service Representative department: travelling the world as technical trouble-shooter/advisor to airlines operating Rolls-Royce powered aircraft. Exotic postings of Luton and Heathrow Airports (!) were split by 3 years in Saudi Arabia and a short stint in Moscow.

Brodie has 10 days from Fuller’s ruling to file an appeal. If he appeals the case to the state Supreme Court, it could take several months for a final decision, Brodie said.

Brodie often told of how during the occupation they received post cards from all over Canada saying that they were doing a good thing. "They all walked down to their post office and mailed it and never thought of staying. Which shows you that everybody is waiting for somebody else to do something."

When the National League dropped Baltimore following the 1899 season, Brodie jumped to the fledging American League signing with Chicago. The White Sox captured the 1900 pennant, Brodie's fifth championship team, but he batted only .262 with little power. The following season John McGraw brought Brodie back to the AL Baltimore club where he hit .310 as the O's center fielder. When McGraw jumped to the National League New York Giants, Brodie went with him. In his final major league season he hit .281.
