Sterling Marlin: Team
built 127 days ago
Marlin joined MB2 Motorsports for 2006 to drive the #14 Waste Management Chevy. Marlin runs the #14 in tribute to his father, Coo Coo Marlin, who died during the 2005 season. Marlin's only Top 10 finish in 2006 was ninth place finish at Richmond. His 2006 season was shadowed by bad luck and #14 finished 36th in owner points. However, the #14 team came back strong in 2007. Sterling made it on speed for the 2007 Daytona 500 and was able to give his teamate, Joe Nemechek a spot in the 500 during their Duel race.
Marlin will be behind the wheel of the #09 Miccosukee Resort Dodge. In 21 starts at PIR he scored a pole and two 3rd place finishes. He will have to make the field on speed since the #09 team is outside the top 35 in owners points.
Corrie Stott has been named the crew chief for the #40 Coors Lite Chevy of Sterling Marlin. Stott had been Jimmy Spencers crew chief in the BGN series. This allows Tony Glover to go back to being the Team Manager for SABCO and the #40, 42 and 46 cars. Stott takes over at Martinsville.(RPM2Nite)(4-15-98)

ESPN is reporting that Regan Smith will replace Sterling Marlin starting with the Allstate 400, and they have told Marlin he is free to look for a ride on another team. He's currently earned 1600 Nextel Cup points, good for 29th place and 551 points out of the Chase.

Sterling was able to avoid some of the many more accidents that took place over the final 70 laps that were responsible for much of the race’s record 25 cautions for the 253-lap event. It ended under a green-white-checkered format with David Reutimann claiming his first career NASCAR victory and the first for team owner Michael Waltrip.
Veteran Nextel Cup driver Marlin said he has settled his legal issues with his former team owner, Bobby Ginn. Marlin and former Ginn teammate, Joe Nemechek, along with two crew chiefs, sued Ginn for breach of contract after they were cut from the team in July, ESPN.com reports.
