Stella is sans serif designed for text use. Especially suited for use in small sizes. It has an humanistic flow, but not too much. The italic are rather narrow compared with the upright. It includes small caps, lining and Old style figures (both, tabular and non-tabular), fractions figures an more extra and useful characters. It works good as a ‘sans’ companion for many serif text faces.

Stella is a Lua development environment for Mac OS. Lua is a really cool scripting language that is being developed at TeCGraf, the Computer Graphics Technology Group of PUC-Rio (the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil) by Waldemar Celes, Roberto Ierusalimschy, and Luiz Henrique de Figueiredo (see http://www.lua.org/). Lua is very easy to embed in other applications. So simple, in fact, that it was a piece of cake to write a REALbasic plugin for it and build a development environment with that plugin. The result is Stella.

Stella has a colorful and unique history. In 1950, it became the first community in the State of Missouri to have an all-female city administration. In an April city election, the community elected a woman mayor, four women council members, and a female city clerk. In their first official act, the council appointed a woman as city tax collector.

Stella started out as a dancer, full of fruitful ambition to take her ballet shoes to big stages! She attended Bird Performing Arts college at 16, then at 19 a twist of fate hurled her out of her ordinary axis when she met and joined The Spacegoats,an EXTRAordinary acoustic folk band. They toured Europe in bumpy vans & travelled to lots of festivals playing their songs at many a strange and enchanting hour, bewitching audiences with their fairy folk & rhymes. Stella wrote & recorded songs, danced and played all sorts of intoxicating instruments :-). She then walked into the world of Jazz upon moving to Brighton, and delighted in singing the old 1920's- 40's nostalgic tunes that she loved, Live! and with wonderful musicians, mostly with 'Rockin' in Rhythm' & guitarist Piers Clark.
