NEW YORK, Aug. 20 PRNewswire — The History Channel announced today that, beginning in the fall 2007 semester, the State University of New York-Maritime College will offer specialized online courses for credit featuring two primetime series from the network. The two series are Engineering an Empire and Great Ships. Engineering an Empire will be airing on History International as well as during the length of the course. Viewers of The History Channel and history enthusiasts throughout the country will be able to earn college credit as non-matriculated students by fulfilling the course obligations for either of these two engaging history courses.

North Carolina State University (NC State), The University of NC at Charlotte (UNCC) and NC A&T State University (NC A&T) have the three colleges of engineering in the 16-campus University of NC system. These colleges of engineering provide access to engineering education throughout the state, including to those citizens in the more remote and less wealthy areas. For more than 20 years, NC State has partnered with The University of NC at Asheville (UNCA) in a Two+Two engineering program in which students take their first two years of general education at UNCA, and then transfer to NC State's College of Engineering for upper division courses and their degree.

These campuses are basically classified into four categories, which include the several educational opportunities offered there and various degrees awarded to students.
Logo of D.A.R.E In 1998, A grant from the National Institute of Justice to the University of Maryland resulted in a report to the NIJ, which among other statements, concluded that "D.A.R.E. does not work to reduce substance use."[16] D.A.R.E. expanded and modified the social competency development area of its curriculum in response to the report. Research by Dr. Dennis Rosenbaum in 1998,[17] found that DARE graduates were more likely than others to drink alcohol, smoke tobacco and use illegal drugs. Psychologist Dr. William Colson asserted in 1998 that DARE increased drug awareness so that "as they get a little older, they (students) become very curious about these drugs they've learned about from police officers."[18] The scientific research evidence in 1998 indicated that the officers were unsuccessful in preventing the increased awareness and curiosity from being translated into illegal use. The evidence suggested that, by exposing young impressionable children to drugs, the program was, in fact , encouraging and nurturing drug use.[19] Studies funded by the National Institute of Justice in 1998,[16][20] and the California Legislative Analyst's Office in 2000[21] ... concluded that the program was ineffective.
The 2005-06 Annual Report Card from the Georgia Office of Student Achievement ranks North Georgia College & State University as the top state university in Georgia for graduation rates.
