Citizens of Star Wars Galaxies will have even more to enjoy this year as they celebrate Wookiee Life Day across the galaxy in mid-December. Major cities in the galaxy will light up with the dazzling glow of the gigantic Wroshyr Tree, which offers gifts to all who visit it! This year's celebration will feature an incredible visual spectacle centered on the tree itself with its dazzling display of light effects and beautiful holiday melodies performed by the Figrin D'an band to accompany this phenomenal display. Gifts galore will bring the festive air of this fantastic holiday to each and every citizen.

In one of four collaborative efforts with established game developers, Star Wars Galaxies has for the past week been under heavy development at Verant Studios, the makers of the phenomenally successful online role-player EverQuest. Understandable then, is why LucasArts decided that if ever there was a team big enough to do justice to the Star Wars name, Verant was the only choice.

The Star Wars Galaxies online game series is designed to immerse players in the rich Star Wars universe. The first product will feature dynamic role-playing ground-based adventures across multiple planets in the classic Star Wars timeframe. Game play will offer a unique combination of combat, exploration, social interaction, specialized missions, and daring quests. Players will explore multiple Star Wars environments on foot or in land vehicles. Traveling between planets will be accomplished through the use of public shuttles, which ferry characters from world to world. The anticipated space component of the Star Wars Galaxies online game will add personal starships and starfighters to the game, which can be used for travel or space combat.

Facing a slow, quiet death, massively multiplayer role playing game Star Wars Galaxies decided to throw caution to the wind, disenfranchise their current fan base and completely rework the game. Now becoming a Jedi, something that once took a bit of talented game play and fortitude, is as easy as choosing it as a profession. That's right, Jedi is one of the nine new character advancement paths. The others are commando, bounty hunter, medic, smuggler, officer, spy, entertainer and trader. more

The official site for MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies has been updated with a new 3D screenshot – you know, one of those clever little things that uses QuickTime and that allows you the pan the view around. It shows off the Zabrak, Darth Maul's pointy-headed fellows. You can view it here.
