- Sean Hughes -- Stand-Ups
The youngest comedian ever to win the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award, Sean Hughes will bring his new stand-up show to the Elmwood Hall on Friday 26th October. Now aged 41, but "spiritually 11", Sean has enjoyed almost two decades at the top of the comedy tree and this show marks a long overdue return to the comedy circuit by one of the best stand-ups of his generation. - Ralphie May -- Comic Standing
Back once again with the ill behavior, Ralphie May's sophomore release finds the hip-hop comedian sounding just as excited as he was on his debut, but twice as comfortable. In contrast, 2004's Just Correct was a full on attack on the listener with its routines and attitude stopping just short of grating. With Girth of a Nation, Ralphie's found his voice and casually strolls through his love of black movie theaters, the mentally challenged, and his former love of drugs ("You know you're getting older when you give up all your drugs") in way that draws the audience in. Besides his pacing, his material has improved ... and his "equally opportunity offender" stance works better with some layered jokes offering relief from his more straight ahead, stereotype reliant material. He actually riffs on the tired topic of black movie theaters and pulls it off, thanks mostly to his love of the African-American culture and the "brotha card in my back pocket." Fans who fell for the bold comedian because of his Last Comic Standing and Celebrity Fit Club appearances are going to love his improved act, but if there's one complaint to be made it's that Girth of a Nation suffers from the same problem as plenty of other 21st century comedy albums. Long stretches of what must be visual humor are left unedited, making this a simple rip of the audio from the simultaneously released DVD, which is in turn the better deal. - Jay Mohr -- Comic Standing
Jay Mohr is a quadruple threat. Film, television, radio and stand-up are all among the treasures in the bag of tricks he's been working on throughout the 15-year career he began as a teenager. He has worked with superstars, matching wits and chops with Tom Cruise in "Jerry Maguire", Al Pacino in "Simone", Eddie Murphy in "Pluto Nash" and Bill Murray in "Speaking of Sex". Jay starred as Peter Dragon in the critically acclaimed Fox series "Action", and last year co-created, executive produced and hosted NBC's summer smash reality show Last Comic Standing. - Brian Regan -- Comedians
Brian Regan is an American stand-up comedian. Regan uses observational humor, which is ... occasionally self-deprecating. But he does keep his performances relatively clean by refraining from blue humor, sexual references, or obscenities. Because of this, he has gained a large following in conservative religious communities, especially in the Latter-day Saint (aka “Mormons”) state of Utah. Regan’s material typically covers everyday events, such as shipping a package with UPS, ordering phone service, going to the eye doctor and playing racquetball. Regan makes frequent references to childhood, including little league baseball, the grade school spelling bee and science projects. - Jay Leno -- Comedians
Jay Leno's "Chin" Chin is a popular talk show host born in 1925. He started his career as a stand-up comedian and has since moved on to writing before landing his job at The Tonight Show. He is a member of Seal Club. - Seinfeld -- Comedian Jerry Seinfeld
There may be pretenders to the comedy throne, but there's really no contest: Seinfeld is the undisputed King of the County. Lord of the Manor. you get the picture. Led by standup comedian Jerry Seinfeld, these four Manhattan masters of their domain muddle their way through relationships and careers all while making uproarious mountains out of minutiae from daily life. The revolutionary series that single-handedly creates its own spec-tacular vernacular (Seinlanguage!), now quoted by every hipster doofus, low talker and double dipper you know. - Ross Noble -- Comedians
Ross Noble is rumoured to be a particularly funny Geordie, or a stand-up comedian, known for his randomness in front of everyone and his appearance, which has been likened to every character from Lord of the Rings. Fond of any Monkey and with long flowing hair like that of Jesus, he is a sure hit with everyone. - Richard Pryor -- Comedians
African-American comedians were a hot commodity at the time, and Mr. Pryor was lumped together with such contemporaries as Bill Cosby, Dick Gregory, and Flip Wilson. He made his first film appearance in 1967, in ''The Busy Body." The daring nature of his material began to set him apart, though. - Carrot Top -- Comedians
With little but two barrettes and a coquettish smile, comedian Carrot Top demonstrates his eerie resemblance to the girl on the Wendy's Hamburgers logo. Imagine what he can do with a rubber duckie and a power cord! - Ellen Degeneres -- Comedians
Ellen Degeneres got her start as a stand up comedian then moved on to have a hugely popular show Ellen. After she outed on the show it was Canceled. She is now the host of her own talk show The Ellen Degeneres Show.
