Stan Kroenke: David Dein
built 158 days ago
The parting was totally unexpected but further reports suggest it was linked to discussions Dein had with American billionaire Stan Kroenke about a takeover bid which Dein was keen to support. The rest of the Arsenal Board were very much opposed to such a move.
Kroenke, who owns 12 per cent of the club, is preparing to join forces with ex-vice-chairman Dein, who still has a 14.5 per cent stake. A bid is expected within the next fortnight.

Former Arsenal vice chairman David Dein was ousted from the team's board this month for reportedly favoring a takeover by Kroenke. Dein owns 14.5 percent of Arsenal's shares. The 71-year-old Hill-Wood was said to be "horrified" at the thought of selling Arsenal to an American.

"That's a question I probably shouldn't answer," said Kroenke when asked later whether the pair had resumed discussions. Dein would only say: "I can't add anything to what has already been said by Red and White Holdings."
Stan Kroenke Either David Dein has an agreement with Kroenke and an agenda to take control, with his help and money. Or the board have out flanked him and pushed him into a corner, having sent Eidelman to the states to neutralise the threat they may be one jump ahead.
