Founded by the Franciscan Brothers more than 120 years ago, St. Francis College is the oldest Catholic learning institution in the Diocese of Brooklyn. The College is located minutes from Manhattan between the hub of New York City's largest borough–downtown Brooklyn–and the historic and scenic neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights. The College's neighborhoods and New York City itself are the campus for St. Francis's 2,300 students. Academics form the cornerstone of students' experience at St. Francis. Each student takes courses in the core curriculum, a set of studies designed to provide an intellectual foundation for further growth academically and professionally. After completing the core, students are free to choose from any of forty-three majors, some in traditional liberal arts areas such as English, history, philosophy; others geared to specific professions, such as education, information technology, health sciences, and business management.
