SSX Blur is very much like SSX 3, in the sense that it contains three peaks which are unlocked throughout the course of the game, and can be raced down consecutively. The peaks are unlocked in the career mode and the tracks can then be played in multiplayer mode and quickrace. The game contains twelve save files, and in each save file you have twelve characters you can use.

SSX Blur adds a leaderboard to track your progress against the other characters in the game. The Groove Meter not only works as a boost, but changes the music of the game: the more you've got it filled up, the more dynamic the music becomes. However, in contrast, the tricks and timing become harder to pull off at higher levels, making for an interesting game experience.

If you've played previous titles in the series you'll know exactly what to expect from SSX Blur. The game is set on a mountain that has three peaks. Initially you only have access to one of those peaks and in order to unlock the others you'll have to complete a variety of events (Race, Slopestyle, Half-Pipe, Big Air, Slalom and Free Ride etc.). You don't get to create your own character, which is a little disappointing, but there is a nice collection of characters you can choose to play and they all have their own weaknesses and strengths. The game offers a Career, Multiplayer and Quick Play game modes.
