The Speed Test allows you to generate a full results report, containing download speeds, upload speeds, ping times, packet loss, trace routes and your network configuration. You don't need any technical knowledge at all.

Trying the first speed test that came up on Google, Speakeasy, Seattle, Washington resulted in 3.367 Mbps download, 310 Kbps upload speeds. nice (though the Clearwire service doesn't feel twice as fast as 1.5 Mbps DSL.)

Results may vary due to operating system configuration, browser configuration, cpu speed, network card configuration, background applications, etc. Before calling technical support, be sure to run all of the speed tweaks to get an accurate result. The script notices when your computer has downloaded the file and then calculates what DSL speed you have. If a firewall is switched on, the data are not sent back to the script and the test fails.
