The United Spades of Amerika is the collective name for a political group that consists of both people and States (though these two entities are known for their constant quarrelling). Giving the title of Spade to its members, it is the strongest of the four feuding factions, the others being the Hearts Union of Amerika, the Amerikan Confederacy of Diamonds, and lastly the Club's Republic of Amerika. While none of these groups are known for their spelling, they are all political groups in the United States of America.

In Spades, all four players bid a number of tricks. Each team adds together the bids of the two partners, and the total is the number of tricks that team must try to win in order to get a postive score. The bidding begins with the player to dealer's left and continues clockwise around the table. Everyone must bid a number, and in theory any number from 0 to 13 is allowed. Unlike other games with bidding, there is no requirement for each bid to be higher than the last one, and players are not allowed to pass. There is no second round of bidding - bids once made cannot be altered.

The Ace of Spades has been employed, on numerous occasions, in the theatre of war. In the Second World War, the soldiers of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the American 101st Airborne Division were marked with the spades symbol painted on the sides of their helmets. In this capacity, it was used to represent good luck, due to its fortunate connotations in card playing. All four card suits were used for ease of identification of regiments within the airborne division following the confusion of a large scale combat airborne operation. Battalions within the regiments were denoted with tic marks or dots, marked from top clockwise; Headquarters at the twelve o'clock position, 1st Battalion at the three o'clock, et cetera.

Armand de Brignac... called "Ace of Spades", "Gold Bottle", or simply "Ace" for short, is characterized by a striking, solid gold-plated bottle and a dramatic Ace of Spades-shaped label in pewter. The brand is making its North American debut this year, after enjoying success as a premium, high-end brand in France. Vinted at a family estate in the tiny village of Chigny-les- Roses in the French countryside, Armand is being imported into the U.S. for distribution by the Manhattan-based company of the same name.
