Southern Arizona is home to Tucson, one of the state's largest cities and a bastion of culture and entertainment. Some of the local museums include the Center for Creative Photography, the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum and theTucson Museum of Art, all of which are complimented by a number of galleries and theatres throughout the city. State parks and historic sites are well represented in Southern Arizona as well, such as the Catalina State Park for camping and the Coronado National Memorial, a site which commemorates the first foray into the American Southwest by Europeans. Kartchner Caverns State Park offers a variety of recreational and educational opportunities, including guided cave tours, a discovery center and over 60 campsites. Due to the state's proximity to Mexico, culture from south of the border has an influence on Southern Arizona, resulting in a rich community diversity.

Southern Arizona is a region of the United States. It is the southernmost portion of the 48th state, Arizona. Southern Arizona's boundaries are not well defined, but certainly include all of present-day Cochise County, Pima County, Graham County, and Santa Cruz County.

The small towns of Southern Arizona have a certain charm large cities in Arizona such as Phoenix, Tucson and Scottsdale lack. No where is this more evident than in Green Valley, just 25 minutes south of Tucson. This "retirement" town is home to a handful of challenging, affordable tracks including Torres Blancas, San Ignacio, Canoa Hills and Canoa Ranch.

In a child-friendly setting, the Southern Arizona Children’s Advocacy Center provides an array of investigative and advocacy services to child victims of abuse and their non-offending family members. Expert medical evaluations, videotaped forensic interviews, crisis intervention and case coordination are all provided in one place. Children who cannot return to their family home receive clothing, books, a blanket and teddy bear to take to temporary, foster care. They are fed at the Center if they are hungry, and they are comforted and cared for by trained staff and volunteers. The Children’s Advocacy Center works with the community to prevent child victimization and stop the cycle of abuse. Center educators annually teach thousands of school age children how to keep themselves safe and report abuse if they believe it has happened.

The history of Southern Arizona goes way back in time with the arrival of Marcos de Niza in 1539. His visit made him the first European to step into Arizona. Niza was a Franciscan priest traveling through the area, in search of gold. He would not be the last one to venture this way. In the years to follow, many people traveled to Southern Arizona in search of mineral wealth.

Southern Arizona has been inhabited for several millennia. In ancient times, inhabitants included the Patayan in the west, the Hohokam in the central area, and the Mogollon in the east. In more recent times, indigenous inhabitants have included the Western Apache and the Chiricahua Apache in the east, the O'odham in the central area, and various Yuman groups in the west.
