TAM will expand its flight offer in South America to include a more complete and diversified network for its passengers. In addition, clients of LAN Alliance companies will enjoy the ease of traveling routes operated by TAM and TAM Mercosur, with multiple hours and frequency options. This broad integration will be possible through the business alliance, which will be implemented within the next months.

The addition of the Edge to Ford of Brazil's vehicle lineup will provide fresh momentum after another year of earnings and sales growth for Ford in South America. Led by the EcoSport, Fiesta and Fusion, Ford sales rose 20.7 percent in Brazil and 18 percent in all of South America in 2007. The Fusion went on sale in Brazil in 2006 and is already the segment leader.

The 46 sites that have been recognized as centres of plant diversity (see Map 36 and Table 53) of course do not represent all of the important centres in South America. Although some additional important sites are mentioned below, comprehensive coverage will require a great deal more effort.
