Sony announced a new combo pack for their Playstation Portable (PSP) just in time for the upcoming holiday season. The new pack, known as the PSP Giga Pack, will feature the PSP system (still only in black), a 1GB Memory Stick PR0 Duo, battery pack, AC adaptor, USB Cable, and a PSP Stand. The combo pack will debut for $299.

Speaking with 1UP, Sony's Phil Harrison detailed plans to make most of the PlayStation (PS1) catalogue available for download on PlayStation 3 -- in addition to PSP. Harrison confirmed that a few titles will be available at launch, including Twisted Metal and Syphon Filter. The catch is you'll have to play them on your PSP, since PS3 currently lacks PS1 emulation software.

Sony has released version 3.52 of the PSP firmware to provide additional support for PlayStation Network PSX titles. Other than that there's not much to report. Just be aware that upgrading to this version will destroy any dreams of running homebrew software in the near future. However, if you still wish to upgrade then you can download the update from Sony's site using the link below or by using the Network Update feature on your PSP.
