Song of the South: United States

Courtesy of Song of the South.net Commercially, Song of the South was a success. Ticket sales were strong in its first run in 1946 and in the subsequent releases in 1956, 1972, 1980, and 1986. Its total gross income by the twenty-first century was approximately $60 million dollars worldwide. The controversy surrounding the film has discouraged other releases... and it is not available for commercial sale in the United States.
During the last decade, the League of the South and other "southern heritage" groups have fought to preserve the state flags of Georgia and Mississippi. Some members of the League have demanded that universities hire Southern-born professors. Others have promoted antebellum style dances. Nearly all are quick to champion their "heroes," including Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, against any slights.

For the past thirty years, this modern capital of the southern state of ParanĂ¡ has been an ecological pioneer and a model for urban planners around the globe, emphasizing open space and public transport. Among its notable innovations, Curitiba counts the first pedestrian-only street in Brazil and a center for environmental education. But the city seems to have lost its vision and transformed itself into the Detroit of South America. Not only are five automobile-manufacturing plants located there, but an increasingly affluent population is turning its back on the vaunted transit system and clogging the roads with vehicles.
Black people aren't evil in Song of the South. Neither are white people, for that matter. They're just, well, really happy with the status quo of slavery. Oh, and deeply, deeply stupid. Everyone is completely stupid.
