[T]his weekend Sonar will be performing again at Wall Street Plaza on Friday. Saturday will find the band back downtown for a Hurricane Benefit show, which is sponsored by the local restaurants and bars along with the City of Orlando. Please make an effort to get out and support the worthy cause of rebuilding the devastated areas of the Gulf Coast. The show runs from 5-10pm and Sonar will be headlining beginning at 8:30. Summer Break - Well, as summer rolls in Sonar is rolling into the studio! That's right, Sonar is recording tracks this summer for an upcoming release on their own label, Versatone Records. Tracking sessions began in early July and as such, Sonar will be performing only a single show this summer, at the legendary Hard Rock Live in Orlando on Friday, July 29th. At this Jambando event, Sonar will be supported by Cadillac Recipe, Sonic Playground, and the Kilwein Family Tree-O. The venue doors open at 8pm and the show will begin promptly at 8:30. Free tickets are available from Sonarmuzak.com, or $6 at the venue box office.

Sonar operation is affected by variations in sound speed, particularly in the vertical plane. Sonar development in its early days was accelerated by the needs of the military in submarine detection, but now the technology is available to meet both commercial and leisure needs. From systems capable of looking at the seabed 6000 metres below the ocean surface to the modest sounders used on leisure craft, there are a myriad of applications for side scan sonar and sub-bottom profiling.
