`Most Social Security recipients will probably qualify for `Currently Not Collectible` (CNC) status from the IRS because they don`t receive income above a Hardship level,` points out Sal Romo Jr., EA, President of the California Society of Enrolled Agents (CSEA). Enrolled Agents are tax professionals licensed by the federal government to assist taxpayers with tax planning, preparation and representation. `By rule, the IRS must notify the prospective garnishees of the Service`s Intent to Levy; taxpayers are put on notice to contact the IRS to explain their situations,` Romo adds.

From just after Sept. 11 through 2005, Social Security officials sent prosecutors 456 referrals that were classified as terrorism-related, according to statistics compiled by Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse. The review shows that 91 percent of those referrals led to prosecutions.

Herndon, Va., Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Prism Pointe Technologies (PPT), the leading provider of worldwide comprehensive IT warranty and support services, announced that it has won a $35 million contract with the Social Security Administration. PPT will service over 46,000 pieces of equipment in more than 1,500 Social Security Administration offices throughout the United States and be responsible for relocating Government-owned Ethernet local area networks (LAN) and associated peripheral equipment when offices move. The contract is for five years -- one year with four renewable option years.

The following are requirements that must be met in order for the Social Security Administration to consider a person blind. The Social Security Administration defines "statutory blindness" as central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with the use of correcting lens. An eye, which has a limitation in the field of vision so that the widest diameter of the visual field subtends an angle no greater than 20 degrees, is considered to have a central visual acuity of 20/200 or less.
