Sochaux is a small city in the East of France, mainly known for the Peugeot production centre (the largest one of the group), and its football club. What generally astonishes the visitor is the modest size of the city (only 5000 inhabitants), compared to the notoriety it has all around France. It is a really plesant city in which to enjoy yourself.

PSA plants in Sochaux (Peugeot 307) and Mulhouse (Peugeot 206 and 307) are the two most important production sites in the group. The PSA site in Vesoul is the strategic site in terms of logistics. These three sites, classified under the French regulation on industrial pollution prevention and control, are ISO 14001 certified.

Sochaux did very well against top-half sides, ranking second only to champions Lyon. They won 10 of 20 matches, averaging 1.70 PPG and climbing nine places in the rankings. Sochaux ... performed well in the first-half, particularly away from home. They ranked seventh in the first-half overall but third on their travels, recording W5-D10-L4.

The Football Club de Sochaux was founded in 1928 and merged with the Association Sportive de Montbéliard in 1930. The new club, the Football Club de Sochaux-Montbéliard sponsored by the Automobiles Peugeot and its boss Jean-Pierre Peugeot, decided to create an unofficail championship.
