  1. Michael Powell -- Public
By seeming to snub both the public and Congress, Powell appeared to be a politically tone-deaf ideologue doing Big Media's bidding. And the "Powell Doctrine" appeared to be nothing more than "Let Big Media and Big Telecom do whatever it wants. If the public doesn't like it, let them eat cake. There's always the Internet."

  6. The Life and Death of Peter Sellers -- Movie Network
Sellers, the movie shows, spent much of his later life just not knowing who what he was. It was hell, folks. This is in some respects quite harrowing viewing. But director Stephen Hopkins quite magnificently leavens the grimness with brilliant black-comedy, in keeping with Sellers himself. Particularly impressive are the scenes in which Sellers takes his characters out from his movies into 'real' life. Watch for the scene when his monstrous mum (played wonderfully by Miriam Margolyes) has a bite of lunch with Dr Strangelove in the studio canteen.
  7. Kathy Griffin -- Hot Cup
Kathy Griffin's crusade to grace the cover of as many magazines as possible finally succeeded with her sharing the cover of the prestigious and widely-read Irish American magazine. While she may have failed to chart on Maxim's Hot 100 (or 1000, for that matter), Kathy made Irish American's Top 100. And they gave her an award, too. At the awards ceremony, "Irish for the Evening" Hilary Clinton snubbed Kathy, who subsequently creeped even herself out by exhibiting some very questionable stalker behavior as she walked uninvited into Clinton's photo ops.
  8. 1959 -- Miscellaneous
Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries (1957), considered for awards in 1959, received only one unsuccessful nomination for Best Original Screenplay (Bergman). Both Bergman and Victor Sjostrom were snubbed as Best Director and Best Actor (as Professor Borg) respectively.
