Sneezing is a very common complaint that everyone often faces. Sneeze is a natural reflux expulsive defence mechanism of the body, like cough, for clearing irritants or toxins or foreign substances from the nose. It is an involuntary, sudden, violent, audible expulsion of air through the nose and mouth. During sneezing, secretions of the nose are being expelled as droplets (more than 6,000) up to 10 feet. It spreads infection through out the area of droplets sprayed as it contains bacteria and leucocytes. It is not contagious if it is not caused by bacteria or viruses.
Petplace.com Sneezing is a reflex of the upper airways, activated to explosively discharge irritating material from the nasal cavity. It is usually caused by the irritation of sensitive nerve endings in the mucous membrane that lines the nose. Nasal discharge is another sign of nasal disease or irritation.

Magical Path Sneezing received much attention in ancient cultures as omens and divination. Sneezing was attributed by some to relate to the invisible visit of a protective deity, the bird of Jupiter Conservator. A widespread belief in Persian folk tradition considers a single sneeze to be a sign that you have to stop whatever you are doing. This is called sabr Amad (patience is in order). A double sneeze is a sign that you should speed up whatever you are doing. The Japanese believe one sneeze means someone is speaking highly of you and two indicate someone speaking ill of you.

Sneezing can occur from a number of causes, or may itself be a symptom of an underlying condition, most likely an allergy or common cold. It may ... be a symptom of a common cold, upper respiratory tract infection, hay fever, or other allergies to pollen, dust, dust mites, mold, dander, grass, or other substances. Additional potential causes of sneezing include withdrawal from opiate drugs, inhaling corticosteroids, whooping cough, or anaphylaxis. Many people sneeze when they step outdoors into bright sunlight.

Sneezing begins when people inhale foreign substances such as smoke, pet dander, pollution and perfumes through the nostrils. These substances irritate the nasal passages and stimulate nerve endings, activating a reflex inside the brain that controls the muscles in the head and neck.

Sneezing and nasal discharge can be caused by dozens of conditions. Some causes are brief and self-limiting such as acute viral infections. Other problems are recurrent such as seasonal allergies. Still others – such as tumors or lodged nasal foreign bodies – are relentless and chronic unless the problem can be resolved.
