- Metal Slug
A major addition to Metal Slug Advance is the card and prisoner collecting “side quest” of sorts. Throughout each mission you will find cards, either in crates, as gifts from prisoners, or just lying around in hidden areas. If you can then survive the rest of the mission without continuing that card and all saved prisoners are added to your collections that can be viewed at Base Camp. A lot of cards are just for looks, but some will actually grant you abilities and/or upgraded weapons if equipped. This adds a lot of replay, since to collect all the cards and prisoners you will have to beat the levels without dying. After each mission you can save and your collections are recorded and won’t be lost. - Metal Slug -- Metal Slug Series
Overall, Metal Slug 4 &5 is part of a dying breed. Most gamers these days will choose a game such as Halo 2 over a 2D side-scrolling shooter without hesitation. Yet there certain people out there that loved their arcade games and playing Metal Slug 4 & 5 will bring back a certain sense of nostalgia that will keep them happy for days. Since this bundle includes two games that have been unaltered since their original release years ago, it is difficult to recommend this game to the majority of the gamer population. Metal Slug series fans and arcade game fans will probably track this bundle down and will gladly add it to their collection without hesitation, while those that have never experienced such a game should rent it first to see if it suits their taste. - Metal Slug -- Metal Slug Anthology
It may not have the heritage of fanfare of other series, but Metal Slug has a real hardcore group of fans - and now it happily reaches its 10th anniversary. Much like Mega Man and Sonic before it, these days reaching such a milestone is celebrated with a compilation of past games and Metal Slug continues this newfound tradition. Six games come in the Anthology and while the package is the very bare bones, it does contain some great games. - Metal Slug -- Snk Playmore
Metal Slug 4/5 Combo Pack is one of the latest releases from SNK NeoGeo USA for the PlayStation 2 console system. Quick refresher course: The Neo Geo was an arcade home unit (cartridge based) that came out in 1989, with the final functional system (the Neo Geo CDV releasing in 1995). Among the titles built for and released on the system were Neo Bomberman, King of Fighters and Metal Slug – all arcade hits. - Metal Slug -- Games
Of all the arcade franchises that have come out in the last 10 years, Metal Slug seems to be one of the most sought-after games for home play. People have been known to shell out hundreds for an SNK Neo Geo AES console and then over a thousand dollars for the cartridge just to play it. All this for a 2-D, side-scrolling shooter. Luckily, Xbox owners can now experience an excellent Metal Slug arcade game for only about $40 with SNK’s Metal Slug 3. - Hulk -- Marvel Comics
By Roger Stern and Steve Rude, the Hulk and Superman slug it out agian, but unlike the first 1981 and the later Marvel vs DC fights, this was a story just about the Hulk and Supes. Check it out here! - Crystal Caves -- Apogee Software
Crystal Caves is a platform style of video game that was both written and published by Apogee Software. Its engine became very popular, and was later used in other games by Apogee, such as Secret Agent. It was released for play on the personal computer in the very early nineties and features some fast paced action, as well as some puzzle solving elements. This side scrolling shooter features futuristic science fiction themes. It is part of a trilogy, and Slugging It Out and Mylo Versus the Supernova ... became available later. - Eritrea -- Borders
For much of the past month, troops and tanks from Ethiopia and Eritrea had been slugging it out over disputed patches of barren land along their ill-defined border. Like last year's initial round of fighting between the two sides, which killed some 1,000 people, the latest battle seemed headed for a standoff--until last week. Ethiopian troops broke through Eritrea's front-line defense near the town of Badme and reportedly swept six miles into Eritrean territory. Fearful of losing more ground, Eritrea hastily accepted a peace proposal drawn up by the Organization of African Unity (OAU). Eritrea informed the United Nations Security Council of its decision to accept the OAU border plan, which had been drawn up last November. Outsiders might wonder why the two neighboring countries came to blows in the first place. - Hootie & the Blowfish -- Music
(CBS)It's been more than four years since the Grammy winning pop/rock band Hootie & The Blowfish put out a CD of all new music. The new, self-titled release is where you'll find the band's newest chart-topping single, “Space.” - Wolf Eyes -- Recordings
Add to the Wolf Eyes mystique that rock and/or roll hasn’t really scared parents in a long time. Thankfully, Wolf Eyes is among the bands that are changing that. Sure, metal has always struck a nerve with the parental set, but over the last 10 years, it’s become self-parody just as it’s splintered into sonic factions too numerous to list. Punk rock is a commodity. Hip hop has seemingly resorted to a strategy of either diminishing creative returns or underground cred-waving. So the front lines of independent rock ’n’ roll are left wide open to the assault of a new kind of hardcore — namely, noise.
