- Bad Religion
Bad Religion is an influential punk rock band known for poignant, erudite lyrics, and biting social commentary. The band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1980 by high school students Greg Graffin (vocals), Jay Bentley (bass guitar), Jay Ziskrout (drums), and Brett Gurewitz (guitar). In 1981, the band released their eponymous debut EP on their own newly-formed label, Epitaph Records, managed and owned by Gurewitz. 1982 saw the release of their first full-length album, How Could Hell Be Any Worse?, gaining the band a sizeable following. During the recording of How Could Hell Be Any Worse?, Jay Ziskrout left the band and was replaced by Peter Finestone. The name 'Bad Religion' comes from a song by old-school heavy metal band, Motorhead. - Manowar -- Bands
Ignoring the fact that there is a difference between the act of killing and act of singing about killing, Manowar have mythologised themselves to the point of actually thinking they are almighty warlords. Hence the weight-lifting and loincloths. Ignoring the fact there is a difference between lots of people at a gig and it being a religion, the band have ... mythologised their music to the point of thinking it is some kind of primordial mythic cult. Presumably this is why they signed their record contract with their own blood, and also why they saw fit to entitle a song: The Gods Made Heavy Metal And They Saw That It Was Good. - John Lee Thompson
John Lee Thompson, 5, of Pearl River balanced himself between two chairs, holding himself erect with his arms. Then he brought his arms down and, legs swaying slightly, held himself on his feet for 40 seconds. - Latin -- Writings

PETOSKEY — A fatal mistake in a gastric bypass surgery resulted in a $1 million medical malpractice verdict in Emmet Circuit Court. Grayling resident Karin Lobaina, whose husband died following surgery at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey about four years ago, won the sizeable verdict last week, though a last-minute settlement will reduce the true amount she receives, her attorney said. Petoskey physician Bruce Deckinga offered to settle about 15 minutes before jurors returned a verdict Wednesday, said Southfield attorney Robert Sickels. Sickels declined to divulge the settlement, but said it was for the maximum limit of Deckinga’s insurance policy, which he described as “quite modest.” - Switzerland -- Forces
Although Switzerland is not a member of NATO, it participates in some of its activities through the Partnership for Peace. Following a referendum in June 2001 the electorate approved a government proposal to allow the arming of military units deployed for peacekeeping operations. Switzerland now has approximately 220 military personnel involved in KFOR (the NATO force in Kosovo), as well as 28 military and civilian observers spread across a number of other UN and OSCE missions. Gunpowder was imported into Cornwall until 1808 when the first Cornish gunpowder factory opened: at Cosawes Wood, Perran-ar-Worthal, about 5 miles from Falmouth. The site at Cosawes and at other works - such as the one at nearby Kennall Vale which followed in 1813 - were chosen for their seclusion in wooded river valleys. This ensured both the availability of water power and the relative safety of nearby settlements, shielded as they were by the trees. The roofs of the factory buildings were ... designed to blow off relatively harmlessly in the event of an explosion. - Medical Malpractice -- Physicians
