Siniestro Total is a Galician punk rock group from Vigo (Spain). It was founded in 1981 by Julián Hernández, Alberto Torrado and Miguel Costas. After many changes in group formation, it is presently formed by Julián Hernández, Javier Soto, Óscar G. Avendaño, Ángel González and Jorge Beltrán.

Siniestro Total were one of the most known and succesful Spanish rock bands during the 80's and 90's, gaining their fame mostly in the Iberic Peninsula and Latin America. But more important to know is that they were one of the best early 80's Spanish punk bands. Maybe it's because of their later works (and the low esteem they seem to suffer, or enjoy, from many punkers in Spain) that they didn't became so known outside of the Spanish speaking world, but their early output is great and much recommended.

Greatly influenced by hip hop bands Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, and Run D.M.C., and rock band Siniestro Total, they started rapping over hip hop bases created by producer Julián Hernández (musician and singer of Siniestro Total). In their Segundo Asalto tape (1989), the sound still was basically hip hop, but they started using rock guitars. Since Armas pal pueblo, the sound has been evolving into rap metal, with touches of techno and nu metal.

Se derribaron tabúes, y en ese momento German Coppini, cantante de Siniestro Total, dejó la banda para formar, junto al multi-músico Teo Cardalda, un original y sofisticado dúo llamado Golpes Bajos. El gran éxito nacional de crítica y de ventas de Golpes Bajos desató la euforia posmoderna en Vigo. Al poco tiempo, el reducido espacio del Satchmo obligó a sus propietarios a cambiar de local por uno de mayores dimensiones situado en las afueras de Vigo: El Kremlin. El Sachtmo cerró sus puertas en la noche de fin de año de 1982 con un mítico concierto de un nuevo grupo llamado Aerolíneas Federales, integrado por Miguel Costas (también de Siniestro Total) a la guitarra, Silvino al bajo y Flechi a la caja de ritmos y al show en escena.

De la mano de su líder, Julián Hernández, recorremos la historia de los vigueses Siniestro Total. Desde sus inicios como iconos del punk más delirante en plena «movida madrileña», al meridiano rock‘n’roll en el que demostrarían ser uno de los valores más sólidos del panorama estatal, pasando por sus recientes andanzas bluseras ya convertidos en todo unos veteranos. Siniestro Total ha sabido plantar cara a la mediocridad a través de canciones pegadizas llenas de humor corrosivo e ironía subversiva. Himnos beodos que se han inscrito en la memoria colectiva de dos generaciones de jóvenes. Muy pocos grupos en este país han sobrevivido dignamente a más de veinte años de existencia.

Los vigueses Siniestro Total son un grupo mítico del rock estatal. Nacidos hace 22 años como un grupo punk iconoclasta y neo-dadaísta, sus letras irreverentes, absurdas en ocasiones y siempre divertidas, han sido memorizadas y coreadas por miles de seguidores. Siempre que los Siniestro vienen al Kafe Antzokia la fiesta esta asegurada.
