Singulair: Asthma Attacks
built 631 days ago
Montelukast or Singulair is able to block leukotriene action in the lung resulting in less constriction of the bronchial tissue and less inflammation. Its activity translates into fewer asthma attacks and fewer asthma medications.
Singulair is taken to prevent and treat asthma. The oral tablets are for asthma patients age 15 years and older, and the chewable tablets are for pediatric patients 2 years of age and older. Do not take Singulair to relieve an asthma attack. It is not a replacement for the quick help that short acting inhalers provide during an asthma attack. It is very important that you continue taking your other asthma medicines unless your health care provider tells you to stop.

Singulair Singulair is generically prescribed as montelukast and is commonly used to treat allergies and prevent asthma attacks. Singulair is part of the family of medications known as leukotriene inhibitor, which means they affect the leukotreines in the body which produce the airway constriction, inflammation, and fluid build up that occur when a patient is experiencing an asthma attack. Singulair is not an effective medication for treating an existing asthma attack.
