As of November 2004, Singapore's labor market totaled 2.18 million, including nearly half a million unskilled and semi-skilled foreign workers and about 80,000 foreign professionals. Local labor laws are flexible, and allow for relatively free hiring and firing practices. Either party can terminate employment by giving the other party the required notice.

Between 1921 and 1994, the Football Association of Singapore entered a representative side in the Malaysia Cup and the Malaysian League. While this was not the national team per se – and in 1980s and 1990s this team included some foreign players as permitted by Malaysian League rules – many Singapore football fans viewed the Malaysia Cup side as being the national team, and the team's exploits in the Malaysian competitions generally drew much more attention than Singapore's participation in other international tournaments. Up to 1994, Singapore won 24 Malaysia Cup titles and 2 Malaysian League titles.

For every movie coming into Singapore, it has to be censored seen by the Media Developement Authority(MDA) in order to weed out the bad parts of the movie. However, a video on the internet has showed to the Singapore public for the first time, of what MDA considers to be of "good quality". For details see here[1] It showed MDA executives rapping about their jobs while prancing around their office wearing Superman costumes and pretending to be Indiana Jones, plainly skiving at their job.
