Simpsons: Simpsons Movie
built 606 days ago
The Simpsons was a hit from the start and has remained one of the most popular television shows in history (as well as the longest-running prime-time cartoon). The show's weekly cornucopia of guest stars has included the likes of Ringo Starr, Christina Ricci and Stephen Hawking, among many others. Simpson family members include father Homer, a beer-loving safety inspector from the local nuclear power plant; Marge, the sensible mom with a blue beehive hairstyle; Bart, the mischievous fourth-grader whose pride in being an "underachiever" was, at first, controversial; Lisa, the second-grader whose achievements and smarts go largely unnoticed; and Maggie, the speechless, pacifier-loving infant. A feature film, The Simpsons Movie, was released on 27 July 2007.

The Simpsons Movie is at its weakest when stretched artificially to conform to expanded narrative movie conventions, where the short attention span episodic momentum of the pleasingly nasty shock wave cartoon just needed to be itself. As such, an overplayed bit about pet pig pollution, family exile in Alaska, and the Springfield lynch mob mentality townfolk stuck in a protective dome instigated by their corrupt leaders as they keep trying to fight their way out with reluctant grumpy superhero Homer nudged into duty, feels somewhat forced and contrived. And seemingly there just to drag the proceedings through the wringer of mandatory full length feature format on its way to the final credits.

Premiering with a full-length animated Christmas special in 1989, The Simpsons went on to become one of the most daring network television series of the 1990s, skewering pop culture, politics, and society in general at every opportunity. Anchored by the tales of its five-member, four-fingered, dysfunctional nuclear family, the series grew to provide more and more story lines for its wealth of rich supporting characters. ~ Michael Hastings, All Movie Guide

The Simpsons Movie The Simpsons Movie contains the hearty laughs, biting satire, and honest portrayal of an American family that makes the show so popular. And it boasts slicker animation and polished writing that hearkens back to the show's glory days.

As a promotion for the The Simpsons Movie, twelve 7-Eleven stores were transformed into Kwik-E-Marts and sold The Simpsons related products. These included "Buzz Cola", "Krusty-O" cereal, Pink doughnuts with sprinkles, and "Squishees".[115]
THE SIMPSONS MOVIE may not qualify for the honor of "Best. Movie. Ever," but even the harshest critics like Comic Book Guy will find little to dislike in this hilarious comedy. Springing from Fox’s hit series, the movie expands the adventures of the Springfield residents into a feature-length film. Here Homer’s selfish antics (and a hankering for free donuts) are responsible for a horrific ecological disaster that could spell the end for Springfield. So it’s up to the paunchy patriarch to save his family and the town from the mess that he has created.
