Simon Cowell SIMON COWELL fired SHARON OSBOURNE after the first series of British talent show THE X FACTOR, because she accused him of being gay, her brother claims. In an angry expose, David Arden alleges Cowell grew tired of Osbourne's jibes and forced her out of the show, only to rehire her because it was a flop without her. Arden says, "She tells everyone he's gay. She claims he's in the closet and doesn't know yet he's homosexual, which is ridiculous. "And even though Simon has a beautiful girlfriend (model/TV presenter Terri Seymour), Sharon would openly harangue and taunt him about it. "Sharon told me that at the end of series one Simon actually got her fired for her jibes and nastiness to him and the contestants. "The producers persuaded Simon to give her a second chance as they loved the chemistry between the judges."
In 2004, with Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, Cowell was a judge on the first series of the British talent show The X Factor, which he created using his production company, Syco. The X Factor was an instant success with the viewers and returned three more times to its fourth series in 2007. In 2006, he was voted the tenth most terrifying celebrity on television in a Radio Times poll consisting of 3,000 people.[11]
Simon_l Simon is the only reason to watch AI. Really. They did a show last year, an audition show, without Simon. Just Randy, Paula, and some guest judge. It was absolutely unbearable. Simon gets it. The show is a bit of a joke.
Cowell is ... the executive producer of Grease Is the Word for ITV. Grease is the Word is the show to find the next big stars to play Danny and Sandy on the 2007 UK west end revival of Grease. Grease Is the Word was hosted by Zoe Ball and judged by Britons David Ian and Sinitta and Americans David Gest and Brian Friedman. This hasn't turned out to be the success he imagined. Simon himself said, "It has been slaughtered by the critics - and rightly so. It is far too similar to our other formats.”[14]
In the Season Five premiere of Punk'd, Cowell was tricked by Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson. He became the seventh non-American/non-Canadian to get "Punk'd". He ... appeared as a guest voice in an episode of The Simpsons ("Smart and Smarter"), in which he gets beaten up, and made a cameo appearance as himself in Scary Movie 3, where he sits in judgment during a rap battle. Cowell is also known for his animal-rights activism and is a supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
