Sikhism prohibits the use of a kirpan as a weapon. Its use bears some similarity to an athame, a doubled sided knife used by Wiccans in their rituals. Athames are not used to actually cut anything.

This practice is one of the Three Pillars of Sikhism and symbolizes the desire of Sikhs to eradicate hunger. The Sikhs are encouraged to donate ten percent (daswandh) of their wealth, time, or resources to a worthy cause, of which Langar Sewa is one.

Literally, Ek means 'ONE' emphasizing the oneness of God, which is the basics of Sikhism. Onkar means The Onkar is derived from the Sanskrit word Om which consists of three syllable sounds representing the trinty of Bramha, Vishnu and Shiva. Onkar therefore means GOD in His entirety.

Although the wearing of the five emblems of the khalsa (the five Ks) is not mentioned in Scriptures, these are traditional modes of religious obligatory dress whose history dates from the earliest days of Sikhism. They are worn by males who have been baptized and consider themselves khalsa:
