Siemens, makers of GSM switching hardware and, in conjunction with BenQ, GSM phones, is saying that CDMA is on its way out in North America. Right. According to the peeps over at Siemens, more carriers are looking to migrate to the standard GSM networks instead of using CDMA. With market share of CDMA declining more and more every year, companies are looking to GSM for an answer. Numbers may or may not lie, but Sprint and Verizon ain't going anywhere, that's for sure. In related news, Coke execs said that Pepsi causes massive cramping and Apple says that Spain is going PowerPC all the way, eschewing Intel completely.

Siemens Metals Technologies will supply another Corex C-3000 plant to the Chinese steel producer Shanghai Baosteel Pudong Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. (Pudong Steel). The contract was received within seven weeks following the successful start-up of the first Corex C-3000 plant. The new plant will ... have a nominal production capacity of 1.5 million tons of hot metal per year and will be built next to the existing facility at Luojing in Shanghai. The Siemens project scope includes engineering, the supply of key process equipment and advisory services. The plant start-up is scheduled for mid-2010. The order value is a two-digit million Euro figure.

In addition to the student awards, the Siemens Foundation ... recognizes high school teachers who have made significant contributions to AP instruction, and to high schools that demonstrate notable improvement in AP enrollment and performance. Two high school teachers per region also receive $1,000 awards based on recommendations by peers, administrators and the College Board for their contribution to the development and improvement of AP instruction. One winning high school from each region is selected based on greatest improvement in AP grade point performance, increase in number of AP courses offered and increase in number of students taking AP science courses. The Siemens Foundation presents a $1,000 award to each winning high school.
