Very few NBC affiliates ever carried that first fifteen minutes, mainly consisting of musical numbers by the band, choosing instead to pick up the show at 11:30 PM when the host was introduced. The 11:15 PM start was at the insistence of the show's first sponsor, Ruppert Breweries.
