The new Shopko store design incorporates a number of elements that will make the customers' shopping experience both stimulating and efficient. The store's color, lighting and fixturing will allow customers to easily see the merchandise. The store layouts will feature Shopko's Pharmacy and Optical Centers at the front of the stores for added convenience and both of these Health Services departments will feature comfortable customer seating zones. The aisle pattern and signing in the store is designed to make the customer shopping experience very efficient. All parts of the store will allow for navigation by strollers and carts.

ShopKo personnel installed the system at all the stores, using ateb for support, says Michiels. "Phone cards were the only hardware item we purchased through ateb," says Michiels. ShopKo personnel ... trained employees on the system using printed manuals. Customers received flyers explaining how the system worked, prior to its installation.
The "my Shopko rewards(TM)" program will launch on August 5, 2007. Customers will be able to sign up and receive their "my extra savings" cards beginning that day. Let the savings begin!

ShopKo's senior vice president and general merchandise manager Skip Chustz agrees. "While markdowns are a necessary part of the business, we are constantly striving to price merchandise to reflect consumer demand, and maximize gross margins at the same time," Chustz said. "We need to equip our buyers with new and more powerful tools like Spotlight's Markdown Optimizer to better serve our customers, and deliver profits for the business and shareholders."
The new design, which will be used for future Shopko stores, incorporates a number of elements that give the store a stronger connection to women shoppers. The storeĆ¢€™s color, lighting and fixturing all have been redesigned to create a warm, inviting, residential environment that allows the customer to easily see the merchandise and visualize how it might look in her home or on her body.
Today, when customers call a ShopKo pharmacy for a prescription refill, their calls are handled automatically. Using their touch tone phone keypad, customers simply key in their prescription number to order a prescription refill. They come to the store later to pick it up. The system works seven days a week, 24 hours a day. This allows customers to call at any time to leave refill request information.
