Shirley Eaton Brassy blonde leading lady Shirley Eaton could be labelled the British equivalent of such American blonde bombshells as Barbara Nichols, Joyce Jameson and Joi Lansing. From her first film appearance in 1954 onward, Eaton excelled in roles calling for equal parts comic know-how and feminine pulchritude. Later in her career, Eaton essayed a number of straight dramatic roles.
Shirley Eaton, like Janet Leigh and her Psycho shower scene, is an actress who finds herself inextricably linked to one short movie moment. Like Janet Leigh, she sensibly and positively views this public image of her as the James Bond Goldfinger Golden Girl. There is much more to Shirley than Jill Masterson and a tin of gold paint. She had been a busy actress, highly sought after in British comedies, for a decade before that famous appearance.
Shirley Eaton played Jill Masterson who was gilded to death starting a movie trend for scenes featuring gold-painted actresses. There was no need to paint her front as she was only seen lying face-down on a bed so this was presumably done only for promotional stills like the Life cover. As with many Bond-girls, the role didn’t do a lot for her career which faded away not long afterwards and this is the only role for which she is really remembered – and then for the makeup rather than her acting: hence Golden Girl for her autobiography?
Shirley Eaton made herself a household name after her memorable appearance as Jill Masterson in 1964's Goldfinger. The image of her golden body became an icon of the sixties after appearing on the cover of Life magazine. Auric Goldfinger's paid escort, she faces his wrath after helping Bond to foil his money winning card scam and dies from skin suffocation from being spray painted gold.

On January 1, 1851, James Shirley bought the house and grounds from Mr. Ben Johnson in Vicksburg Mississippi. James was a native of Goffstown, New Hampshire and is descended from James Shirley who came from Ireland to New Hampshire.
Shirley was confident, happy, slim and is most definitely at a new peak. The voice was powerful and never faltered for a second. She looked delighted to be on stage. Nervous, as always, specially during the spoken tribute to the Queen and the audience.
