Shemar Moore was the host of the syndicated version of the series Soul Train from 1999 until 2003, and appeared in the 2000 feature film The Brothers. In November 2004, he returned to The Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters, after a few months he dropped back to recurring status and left in September 2005.

From being on the number soap opera on television, The Young and the Restless, to hosting the weekly music show Soul Train for three seasons, Shemar Moore continues to dazzle the women on the small screen. In his first big role since being features in "Brothers" a few years back, sexy Shemar Moore moves from his typical role of bronze black god to a more centered, simplistic role as Orlando Brown in the comedic dramatic play turned film, Diary of a Mad Black Woman. In speaking with blackfilm.com, Moore talks about what drew him to take on this film and the challenges he faces as an actor.

After a shoulder injury ended his baseball career, Moore turned his full attention to acting. His big break came in 1994 when he beat out more than 350 actors to win the part of Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless, a role that earned Moore a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2000, after three successive nominations. He has ... received five successive NAACP Image Awards. In 1999, Moore began moonlighting as host of the legendary Soul Train, a job he still holds today. In 2001, came the box office success The Brothers, in which Moore starred alongside D. L. Hughley, Bill Bellamy and Morris Chestnut. Other credits include the feature films Never 2 Big and Hav Plenty.

"Little by little, I was making strides in the model-commercial side," says Moore, whose ads appeared in catalogs for Macy's, Sears, and International Male. He began the transition from model to actor. His big breakthrough: playing Malcolm Winters on "The Young and the Restless" from 1994 to 2002. In 2000, he won a daytime Emmy for the role.
