With Brian Campbell, the Sharks are 3-0 and he has two assists. These wins are different than the two against Philly and Pittsburgh on the road trip. Those were ugly, boring, pre-Brian Campbell wins. With Campbell, the Sharks look like an offensive hockey club instead of just plain offensive. For the first time all season, the power play is clicking with four PP goals in three contests. Campbell is fun to watch and what a difference watching him effortlessly bring the puck into the attacking zone instead of Carle/Ehrhoff making a poor pass or dumping the puck in. Everyone’s game has stepped up.
Concannon still has a season remaining in Lowell, and hopefully the 3rd round pick in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Sharks (82nd overall) can convince the Sharks he was worth the selection. If he plays like he finished the season, the odds may be in his favor.
San Jose rookie Marc-Edouard Vlasic leads first-year defensemen in playing time, averaging more than 20 minutes per game. The Sharks knew what they had with their other rookie blueliner, Matt Carle, the reigning Hobey Baker Award winner as the nation's top college player. Carle, 22, leads rookie defensemen in scoring (14 points).

The rinks would address comments that Sharks officials have heard from the skating community for years: There's not enough ice time available for the region's ice skaters and youth and adult hockey teams. Many youngsters are forced to practice in the predawn hours or late at night.

The Sharks have signed Justin Kurtz to a pro tryout, and signed defenseman Tom Walsh to an AHL contract, and sent him to Fresno of the ECHL. Kurtz, a pretty good offensive defenseman who spent the last three seasons in Germany, was on the Manitoba Moose team that beat Worcester in one of those awful three-game playoff series back in 2000-01. Walsh, a rookie, did not look out of place in the AHL. That Worcester signed Kurtz and sent Walsh out for seasoning — that’s a sign that the Sharks are serious about contending in the Atlantic Division. … Local hockey aficionado A.J. Atchue, who worked at IceCats home games for years, is back in the league with the Hartford Wolf Pack.

As the title refers to, the theme of the game was individual Sharks players going up against individual Habs, and making them look stupid. Teabagging is the technical term. Big Joe teabagged Price on two occasions, but the second was the best. On the PP, with no screen, he took a slap shot from the right circle, and it got through Price. It trickled to the far post, and literally sat on the goal line for a couple of seconds, before it was cleared to the corner. Quickly, it was passed back to Joe, in the exact same spot.
