Led by a performance in a music video for a local band in her senior year of high school, Shannon Elizabeth entered the spotlight after she relocated to New York to begin a modeling career after graduating high school. While doing modeling jobs, she traveled to several countries like France, Italy, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Coming back to America, Elizabeth headed for Hollywood and did some modeling gigs for Ford Model before signing a contract with Elite Model Management. Shortly thereafter, she landed her first TV commercial for Taco Bell and decided to pursue an acting career.

After appearing in a local music video, Elizabeth and her parents were told by a producer that she should pursue a career in modeling. Directly following her graduation from high school, she relocated to New York City where she began her modeling career, gracing the pages of fashion magazines around the world.

Claiming to not be part of the popular group in what she described as a cliquey high school, Shannon was involved in many after-school activities. Part of the student council executive, Shannon was active in volleyball and cheerleading (which probably came easy to her thanks to her tap and ballet lessons as a child). Her biggest interest during high school... was tennis, which she considered doing professionally.
