Shania Twain
built 633 days ago
Twain is the daughter of Sharon and Clarence Edwards, who divorced when she was two. Her mother then moved Eilleen and her sister Jill to Timmins, Ontario where her mother met and married Jerry Twain, a native Ojibwa. He then adopted Eilleen, and her name was changed to Eilleen Twain. Because of her connection to her step-father, in the past people have gotten the impression that her ancestry is Ojibwa, but her actual ethnic makeup is Irish and French.[4]

After finishing high school, Shania went to Toronto in order to pursue further dreams of singing and writing. When she was 21 years of age both of her parents died in a car accident. This situation forced Shania to be a surrogate mother to her younger siblings. Returning from Toronto she worked at a resort in Deerhurst, singing and dancing.

With the encouragement of her mother, Shania Twain always made performing a part of her life. While Shania spent her summer vacations from high school helping her parents financially by taking on part-time jobs, she still continued to be the lead singer of a cover band.

Shania supports the ballet in her new home town in Switzerland. When asked why she decided to support the ballet publicly, Shania said "The French Ballet makes it possible to the children to live their dream. Or at least to test itself with art. An experiment which each young person should have." Note that the quote is translated using Google. To see more, check the STNAOFC board. Go here.
