Emerging in the mid-'90s, Shania Twain (pronounced shu-NYE-uh) became the most popular country music artist since Garth Brooks. Her songs are where it all starts. They are honest and real, insightful, fun, personal and often "helpful." Shania blends her on-the-mark lyrics with fabulous melodies, harmonies, and production values that just enter straight into your heart.

Today, Shania Twain is causing ears to perk up. Her catchy new single, "Who's Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" is all over country radio and is currently is in the Top Ten. But it's been a bit of a mountain climb for this singer/songwriter. Her trek begins in a small town in Ontario.

Performing in front of audiences since she was a child, Shania Twain has spent her life entertaining people. She writes or co-writes all of her own songs and has sold millions of records world wide. This mega-star has an appeal to a wide range of listeners and has been recognized around the world for her achievements.
For the most part, Twain's brand of country is hard and bluesy, and her themes center on love in all its aspects. "What Made You Say That" communicates the exaltation of new love; "There Goes the Neighborhood" explores the aftermath of a community blown apart by divorce; "When He Leaves You," a straight-ahead country weeper written by Mike Reid and Kent Robbins, finds a wife matter-of-factly sympathizing with her unfaithful husband's soon-to-be ex-lover. Through it all, Twain works the vocal magic of an assured stylist whose every breath broadens a song's emotional landscape. The voice has a rough-hewn edge, falling somewhere in the Tanya Tucker-Trisha Yearwood realm, and range enough to get down and dirty ("Crime of the Century") or soft and tender ("Still Under the Weather").
Shania Twain performing during her Up! Tour When rock producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange heard Twain's original songs and singing, he offered to produce her and to write songs with her. After many telephone conversations, they met in person at Nashville's Fan Fair in June 1993.[4] Twain initially had no idea who he was but expressed a high degree of praise for his demos on the phone. Twain and Lange became very close within just weeks.
