Shania is a huge supporter of Harvest Hope Food Bank. On Wednesday, April 28, she allowed 12 drummers to perform with her from the Lexington High School Band. They had won the opportunity by collecting a total of 6,475 pounds of food in a competition sponsored by WCOS- FM for Lexington and Richland area schools. Students at Lexington High School, Airport High School, and White Knoll High School participated in the drive and collectively raised 10,100 pounds of food. That is enough to feed 254 people for four to five days. “It’s fantastic to get local high schools involved in helping the community, and wonderful that Shania Twain offers them the ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to share their musical talent on stage with her.

Twain married music producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange on December 28, 1993. The couple have a son, Eja D'Angelo (pronounced "Asia") who was born on August 12, 2001. Twain and her family currently reside in Switzerland and New Zealand, where they own several horses. The Langes are vegetarians.[13]

Twain moved her siblings to Huntsville, Ontario, where she would spend years performing at a local resort to support her family. As a child, her parents were obsessed with having her sing country music publicly; it was a task she hated as a young girl, but one she would be grateful for as an adult.

Twain claims that she is "not naturally a spotlight person" but doesn't mind being the center of attention in a comfortable environment. The five-time Grammy award-winning singer has been known to feel uneasy about her role as a sex symbol and has repeatedly stated that "it is the music that will last forever, not an image."
