The world of fashion was never far away from Carrie, public relations executive Samantha (Kim Cattrall), upper-crust Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and lawyer Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). Costume designer Patricia Field helped create each character's look by painstakingly selecting the best pieces from each season.

Over its course of six seasons, "Sex and the City" was nominated for over 50 Emmy Awards, winning seven of them. Among the Emmys the show won were two for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series (Jennifer McNamara), one for its Costumes, a trophy for Outstanding Comedy Series for its third season in 2001, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series in 2002 for the episode "The Real Me", and for its final season in 2004, Emmys for Sarah Jessica Parker (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for the episode "An American Girl in Paris, Part Deux"), and Cynthia Nixon (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the episodes "One" and "Ick Factor"). It has ... been nominated for 24 Golden Globe Awards, and won 8. Its wins included Best TV Series — Musical or Comedy, and Best Actress in a TV Series — Musical or Comedy, (Sarah Jessica Parker) for three consecutive years from 2000 – 2002, Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series, or Movie for Kim Cattrall, and another one for Parker.

While the final episode of Sex and the City will air this Sunday, series writer, director and executive producer Michael Patrick King is penning the script for a big screen feature. HBO is in the process of making deals for stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall to reprise their roles in the film, which King would direct.

The feature film version of SEX AND THE CITY is back on track after negotiations with the series' four leading ladies made significant progress this week (ends03NOV06). Stars SARAH JESSICA PARKER, KRISTIN DAVIS, KIM CATTRALL and CYNTHIA NIXON were set to star in the big screen version of the hit show before the project collapsed. US OK! magazine reports exclusively that a studio source has confirmed that the long-postponed project is closer to becoming a reality after "substantial negotiations have opened with each of the stars' teams this week". According to the studio insider, "Obviously, there is still a lot to be worked out contractually, but it would be amazing to get this project off the ground. "There is no doubt that fans cannot wait to see them all reunited." Rumours have circulated since the show ended in 2004 that the project was unable to get off the ground because of behind-the-scenes drama between the actresses.

She is confident, strong, outspoken, and a self-proclaimed "try-sexual" (meaning she'll try anything once). One of Samantha's best qualities is her loyalty to her friends. When Carrie confesses to her that she's having an affair with her married ex-boyfriend (and cheating on her own boyfriend, as well), Samantha tells her that judging is not her style and offers her support. She has a conspicuous sexual appetite and avoids emotional involvement at all costs while satisfying her physical desires.
