Sewing Machines: Antique Singer
built 441 days ago
This article isn't very useful in helping identify the best sewing machines. Rather, Susan Druding passes on some general thoughts about various brands. For example, Druding says quilters like Pfaff for its built-in walking foot. Some like Bernina's knee-lift presser foot option. Interestingly, she states that Singer's most popular model is the Featherweight, which hasn't been produced in years.
Antique Singer sewing machines are much more than just a piece of old metal and pedals. They are a piece of history as well as wonderful room decorations. The 19th century antique Singer sewing machines will look just fine in almost every room. But they will look even better if you'll be able to make them work again. And doing that is much easier than you think!
Singer Sewing Machines Serial numbers on Singer sewing machines manufactured prior to 1900 are numbers only. After 1900, the machine serial numbers have a single or two-letter prefix. The tables are divided into these three categories:
Janome Hello Kitty 11706 Mechanical Sewing Machine The Singer is a combination sewing and embroidery machine, and along with high-end features like automatic threading and automatic bobbin refill, it can ... create multicolor hoop embroidery patterns. The Singer embroidery machine comes with hundreds of pre-programmed embroidery designs, but you can download more patterns online. Machine embroidery is an expensive hobby, but those who've tried it are quickly addicted.
If you have a Singer sewing machine that you would like to find more info on, call Singer toll-free at 1-800-474-6437. If you provide them with the machine's serial number (which is usually stamped on the right side of the machine bed and often begins with one or two letters) they can provide you with the machine's model number and it's date of manufacture. Singer ... has copies of manuals available for $10 each (unfortunately, they are no longer free.)
