Selena was one of the seven babies who was born by Ammon Ra and Nashoba at the Sanctuary, along with Zeus, Shakti, Taza, Lycea, Ghengis Khan, and Chaka Zulu. She was raised by both humans and wolves indoors, and when he cubs grew older, they moved outside. However, once in the larger enclosure, Selena tried to exert her dominance as an Alpha female. Her siblings refused to recognize her new position and dominance (her small size didn't match her attitude), so she was moved to a separate enclosure. She had tried out a few different pen-mates, including Raven and Shadow, but finally moved in with Amani.

Just when Selena seems content and on the brink of mainstream pop success, her life is tragically cut short. The movie handles Selena's untimely death by relying mostly on TV news-style reports, although there's a scene of her killer (Lupe Ontiveros) holding a gun to her own head.

Selena has grown into a beautiful female with a sometimes nasty attitude. Although she was hand-raised, she prefers to keep her distance away from humans. If anyone enters her enclosure, Selena will stay far away from them. However, if someone approaches her enclosure from outside, she becomes more brave. Selena will usually charge forward, growling and snarling. If you bend down, make any sudden movements, or jump up, she will more than likely lunge at the fence baring her teeth.

"Primer Impacto" recently had a segment in which Mr. Quintanilla said that he would like for Olga Tanon play the part of Selena in the movie. He said she reminded him so much of Selena, the way she sings and dances and the way she is always with a big smile in her face. However, he did not know whether she knew how to speak English. The host told him that being from Puerto Rico, Olga Tanon does know English, since they speak English in Puerto Rico. He ... said that they will start filming the movie in March.

Parents need to know that this movie is based on the life of Selena, the popular singer who was killed in 1995. Kids may ask questions about the events surrounding her murder. The murder isn't shown, but one character does hold a gun to her own head. At the center of this film is a portrait of a principled and loving Latino family -- something rarely depicted in movies.
