Selena is the best movie of all time. It is a story about love, family, and dreams. The story is about a little Mexican-American girl in Texas who wants to become a star. She never gives up, and keeps trying, and she finally makes it to the big time. In a tragic ending, everything is taken away from her. Jennifer Lopez plays the part of the older Selena.
Selena When 'Jennifer Lopez' signed on to be Selena, she expected to be providing her own vocals. But it was felt that since the movie would be released so soon after Selena's death her fans would not approve of hearing any voice other than hers. So Lopez was coached to lip-sync instead of being provided the vocal coaching she expected. more

PLOT: In the early 1960's a young Mexican American girl, Selena Quintanilla (BECKY LEE MEZA), surprises her father Abraham (EDWARD JAMES OLMOS) with her pleasant sounding voice. A former musician himself, Abraham pushes her and her siblings into the music world and soon they're playing at local fairs. Years later, he gets her to sing her songs in Spanish and soon Selena (JENNIFER LOPEZ) and her siblings, Suzette (JACKIE GUERRA) and A.B. (JACOB VARGAS), have become a local hit. Heavy metal guitarist Chris Perez (JON SEDA) joins the band and soon a romance blossoms between him and Selena. As she grows into a huge sensation, she must deal with her father who doesn't approve of her relationship with Chris, and with the not-so-faithful president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar.

A biographical drama based on the life and times of Selena (Jennifer Lopez), the Tejano pop singer who was shot to death by the former president of her fan club. Yolana Saldivar was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. The story charts the singer’s rise to the top of the Latin charts and her posthumous crossover to mainstream audiences.
Selena's first English-language album, Dreaming of You, was released after her death and became a huge hit. Her music remains popular today. Since her untimely death, Selena's life story has been the subject of a 1997 film starring Jennifer Lopez as the Tejano superstar and James Edward Olmos as her father.

selena4.jpg If you are not a fan of Selena's or Latin music, you will be after watching this film. The music and onstage performances will have you tapping your toes and yearning to dance. If Lopez captured only half of Selena's true spirit and onstage energy, it's no wonder she was a huge star. The concert sequences are brilliantly filmed, creating a real sense of what it must have been like to be in the audience. Lopez and Seda have great chemistry, giving Selena and Chris's love an honesty and sweetness that touches the heart. Edward James Olmos is a little pushy in the beginning of the film, but it's clear that his unwavering love and unrelenting drive are the reasons behind his children's success and his families unity.
