Seattle Seahawks: Seasons
built 788 days ago
The Seattle Seahawks transferred from the American Football Conference West Division to the National Football Conference West Division in 1977, joining the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, as well as the St. Louis Rams. The Seahawks were a member of the NFC West in their inaugural season in 1976 before moving to the AFC West in 1977.
The Seattle Seahawks and first-round draft choice Kelly Jennings agreed on a multiyear contract two days after he was due to report to training camp. Jennings, the 31st overall pick in April's draft, has a starting job to lose over the next six weeks, before the regular season begins. Head coach Mike Holmgren seemed frustrated that Jennings was not in camp on time. He did not say whether Jennings had been fined.
Defensive end Bryce Fisher is leaving Seattle and Charlie Frye is on the way to the Seahawks. Fisher, benched by Seattle after starting for two seasons, was traded to Tennessee on Tuesday. Fisher, a seven-year veteran, had been replaced with the faster Darryl Tapp, the Seahawks' second-round draft choice in 2006.
