Sealand's first official athlete was Darren Blackburn of Oakville, Ontario, who was appointed in 2003. Blackburn has represented Sealand at a number of local sporting events, including marathons and off-trail races.[42] Sealand's official U-20 National Football team is coached by American high school soccer coach Rory Miller and is mostly composed of players from his current and recent past roster at Muhlenberg North High School in Greenville, Kentucky. Mountaineer Slader Oviatt carried the Sealandic flag to the top of Muztagh Ata in 2004.[43] Since 16 December 2007, the Yorkshire-based airsoft team "SART" (Sheffield Armed Response Team) [1][2] represents the Principality at airsoft games as its national team. Also in 2007, Michael Martelle represented the Principality of Sealand in the World Cup of Kung Fu, held in Quebec City, Canada; bearing the designation of Athleta Principalitas Bellatorius ( Principal Martial Arts Athlete and Champion ), Martelle won two silver medals, becoming the first-ever Sealand athlete to appear on a world championship podium [3].

The server's location on Sealand means MacroMaxx won't have to worry about fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, thefts, bomb threats, industrial sabotage, or killer-bee attacks. Or, for that matter, the discovery process in civil suits. If MacroMaxx is embroiled in a legal tussle and doesn't feel cooperative, it could use Sealand's unique status as a way to dig in its heels. Say, for example, that a pesky court official shows up at the company's Berlin office with a disk-duplicating device, demanding all company email for the past year. MacroMaxx execs could say, "Gee, we don't have that here." The official would be stymied, because the email simply wouldn't be on the premises, and it's up to MacroMaxx whether it keeps any backups around.

M/V Sealand Express [H]as more than 1,037 containers aboard, including 33 filled with hazardous materials such as flammable compressed gas, alcohol, fireworks & industrial chemicals. Environmentalists expressed alarm at the news that the vessel was ... carrying 50 tons of uranium ore concentrate, destined to be turned into nuclear fuel in the United States. But a nuclear engineer said the material was only mildly radioactive and that the oil posed a much bigger danger. By Aug. 22, an estimated 70 tons of oil had been pumped to one of the anchor handler tugs. Oil is being pumped along a 20mm floating pipe about 350m seaward to one of the anchor handler tugs.

Since Roy of Sealand was still an English citizen, he was ... accused of extensive crimes in Britain and was summoned to an English court. The result of this lawsuit in Chelmsford, Essex was a spectacular success for Sealand's claim to sovereignty. In its judgment of 25 November 1968, the court declared that it was not competent in Roy of Sealand's case as it could not exert any jurisdiction outside of British national territory. This is the first de facto recognition of the Principality of Sealand. English law had ruled that Sealand was not part of the United Kingdom, nor did any other nation claim it, hence Prince Roy's declaration of a new Sovereign State was de facto upheld.
