Loretta Jean Ziegler Wimmer, of Roanoke, died Friday, November 23, 2007. She was a charter member of Bethany Christian Church and a graduate of William Fleming High School and National Business College. She had the honor of being the first woman sworn into the United States Navy in the commonwealth of Virginia. She served as an officer in the Roanoke squadron of the
Wimmer's lap of 135.355 mph earned him his first career Busch Series pole as well. #41-Reed Sorenson, #60-Carl Edwards, #27-Jason Keller and #37-Bobby East rounded out the rest of the top 5 in the lineup for tonight's event.
During the final laps Scott Wimmer was able to sail to the checkered without a serious challenge for the lead. Cottrell having perhaps on the of the best runs of his career was able to fend off a final lap challenge from Mackesy who had closed within a car length to finish second. Mackesy would claim third, with Chris Wimmer, Check and Breezer claming the top six spots at the finish.

It was 2002, and Wimmer was an up-and-comer in the NASCAR Busch Series, driving for a strong team and carrying high expectations. But he wasn't anywhere near his peak, on the track or off.
